Unannounced ban on Work Visas in UAE has been relaxed

Pakistani and Indian companies in the UAE are now able to obtain work visas for new hires.

Dubai (Gulf-Urdu – Arshad Farooq Butt) UAE’s unannounced ban on work visas for some companies due to lack of ‘demographic diversity’ has now been relaxed.

According to details, Pakistani and Indian companies in the UAE are now able to obtain work visas for new hires, which previously faced difficulties due to lack of ‘demographic diversity’. Visa agents and business center executives have said they have been able to clear the backlog of pending work permit and visa applications.

What is Demographic Diversity in the UAE?

Different companies in the UAE are directed to issue visas to citizens of different countries. A company with more ‘demographic diversity’ will get visas approved faster and cost less. A company that only issues visas to citizens of one country is not considered the best in the category.

For the past one month, Pakistani and Indian companies were facing difficulties in issuing visas. Emirati authorities have asked these companies to ensure that the first 20 percent of the available quota is diversified when applying for new permits.

Due to the unannounced ban, many Pakistani and Indian citizens had to go through a long wait. Expats who quit their jobs to change companies faced long waits for work permits from new employers.
